Brook trout are a key native salmonid in the eastern part of North America. Learn all about
them and their habitat
Through a classroom experience of hatching
fish eggs and coordinated activities, students experience first-hand the value of aquatic environments, the balance that must
be met to maintain and preserve California's fisheries and aquatic habitats, and how their personal actions affect these
valuable resources.
Students in grades k-12 learn about biodiversity, our environment and our watershed ecosystem.
Learners will:
· Raise trout from eggs to fry.
· Monitor tank water quality
· Engage in stream
habitat study.
· Learn to appreciate water resources.
· Begin to foster a conservation ethic.
· Grow to understand ecosystems.
The program concludes by releasing their trout
in a state-approved stream near within a nearby watershed.TIC has interdisciplinary applications in science, social studies,
mathematics, language arts, fine arts, and physical education. Baywood Educators tailor TIC curriculum to the needs and interests
of learners to create a unique learning experience.
